In observance of MLK DAY, and having this day off from work and school, I want to say thank you to Dr. Martin Luther King for fighting so hard for not just my people, but for love. We live in a different world today than he did. We still have and there will always be issues, injustice, racism. Even with that, we still control our own world and our perception of the world. “If you are unhappy with your world and want to change it, start with yourself. If you are right your world will be right”. Just like MLK had aims to make this world a better place, if we want our world to be better, we must start with striving for better for ourselves, holding ourselfs accountable and not letting our potential go in tapped, our light go without shinning bright.
Happy birthday Dr. Martin Luther King. Enjoy this video I did for MLK a few years back with the Center For Civil and Human Rights. Also, “Try Love” drops today. Check it out if you can ❤️

Try Love Dropping Tomorrow
They ask if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a sound? Tomorrow I drop another song. Maybe there should have been some hoopla of promotions, a 7 or 21 day plan to announce, a heads up email to the fans, a paid promotion, or maybe I should have snippet videos already teasing. Maybe, but all I have is a song, maybe a sermon in melodic form. I’ve struggled at this part of my career, putting out the “right” content, the right announcements. I had a creative buddy of mines say, “I’m looking for more polished, not as raw content from you and I think that would help”. Maybe those words crippled me a bit over the years; especially after putting out some very top of the line visuals at one point. I created a scenario in my mind where people say, Kim you went from this to this (disappointingly), as opposed, you have not taken you foot off the gas no matter what for almost 2 decades. I do believe I’ve grown these last few months. Grown to, you get what I can give, and I always give my best. In my journal yesterday I wrote, “even not being my best, I realize I am my best because I’m still giving 100% of whatever strength, focusing myself I have to offer”. And just like season 1 comparing to season 2,3,4,5 and 6 or reality shows, you’ll see me shine more and more polished as time goes on. Y’all know what season 1 looks like as opposed to season 2 (cameras better, clothes better, shots better, etc). My mind and creativity works a lot faster than my polished DIY output machine can handle. So I figure it’s best to just keep the music 1st, prioritize that, and let the rest fall into place. “Try Love” is a beautiful song dropping tomorrow. Hope you get a chance to hear it.

Graveshift COVID-19 and Johnny Nash
Peace!
Ok so lately I got a gig for a couple weeks, good pay, only thing is that it was a 12 hour shift and at night! Never have I don’t a graveyard shift before, but why not. That shit is no joke fyi… not a sit down and chill job either, gotta be up, moving and alert all night. Now, as I started working I got hit up from one of my buddies Carolyn telling me CBS had a cover song contest, remaking Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now”. I only had a few days to submit, I’d get home at 7, try and sit down to create but I would be exhausted, then I’d get up from laying down spend time with my family for maybe an hour while getting ready and preparing food for the night shift. So in a nut shell not much time. It was due the 6th, so yesterday I figure after work I’d just tough it out when I got home after 7a. Well, that night working I felt horrible, the worst I’ve ever felt. Working that night shift and feeling the way i felt was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I got home, took my temp… 102.1! I took an at home Covid test and guess what?! Winner! You have Covid! Just been down all day, but was able to get up, muster some energy to video and finish laying a guitar part down. Had planned on redoing my vocals I recorded about 2 days ago as a draft, but that ain’t happening now, not with this Covid. Even had my son crying in the background in my recording, was subtly able to take that out but it cut one of my runs short 🤷🏾♀️. All in all, glad I did it, glad I got it done too! Only was to be 30-60 seconds, so just a bit of a snippet. To check it out, click here!!!
